How to run your week from the dashboard

By Daniel Jimenez, founder of Kanbei · November 3, 2026 · 2 min read

A Kanbei guide — step by step, for organizers.

The dashboard is the front page of your workspace: what is coming up next, how many people and events you have, and what still needs doing. Open it whenever you want the state of the org at a glance instead of hunting through pages.

What you see

Counts for your people and events, with the next event named, so you can see at a glance whether anything is scheduled.

Get set up: four steps

A new org shows a “Get set up” card with four things to do: add your first people, import your roster, create your first event, and send your first announcement. Each one links straight to the page where you do it, and checks off when it is actually done — adding people by hand and importing a roster both count for the people step. Dismiss the card when you are done with it.

Use it as a weekly habit

  • Check what is coming up this week, and whether every event has its people and assignments covered.
  • Open the event that needs attention — the dashboard links to it, it does not try to do everything itself.
  • When something is missing (no event yet, no announcement yet), the Get set up card tells you which one.

Doing this in Kanbei

The dashboard is the first page of your workspace, at /app. Work through the four Get set up steps — people, roster import, first event, first announcement — and the dashboard becomes a quiet summary instead of a to-do list. It costs $20 a month, plus applicable taxes, for the whole organization, with unlimited members.

Common questions

What are the four Get set up steps?

Add your first people, import your roster, create your first event, and send your first announcement.

Does importing my roster count as adding people?

Yes. Adding people by hand and importing a roster both complete the people step, because both add people.

Can I hide the Get set up card?

Yes, dismiss it once the org is running. It only shows while there is still something on it to do.
