Kanbei does not send email or texts from its own account for announcements or messages. You connect your own accounts in Connectors, and everything goes out under your name, from an address people recognize. Without a connected account, reminders and announcement sends simply do not go out — and the pages that need one tell you so.
Email: send reminders and announcements
Connect a mailbox — Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, iCloud, Zoho, Fastmail, or any mail server over SMTP — or an email service such as Resend, SendGrid, Brevo, Postmark, or Mailgun. Event reminders, announcement emails, and the automatic welcome, birthday, and renewal emails all go through the account you connect. You pay that provider directly, if anything.
Text: announcements by SMS
Connect a text provider — Twilio, SimpleTexting, Vonage, Plivo, Telnyx, or ClickSend — to send announcements by text as well as email. People who unsubscribed are never messaged, and every announcement send has a delivery report.
Imports: bring people in from where they already are
Connectors is also where imports live: phone contacts from a .vcf file, Google Contacts, Outlook contacts, a Mailchimp audience, Brevo contacts, MailerLite subscribers, or a plain CSV spreadsheet. Connect once, import, and the people land in your list.
Calendar: keep your own calendar in step
Connect a calendar file (.ics) to import events, or share a calendar link so members can add Kanbei events to their Google, Apple, or Outlook calendar and keep them up to date. Each event also has its own .ics download on the calendar page.
The live calendar feed
The feed is a link members subscribe to once, and every Kanbei event then shows up in their own calendar app — and stays up to date when events change. The switch lives in Settings → Organization, under “Calendar feed”: an owner or admin turns it on, and the link appears there. Members subscribe from Connectors → Calendars → “Subscribe to Kanbei events”, which has one-tap buttons for Google Calendar, Apple Calendar, and Outlook, plus a Copy link button for any other calendar app. No account is needed to use the link, and it shows every event in the org — it is not filtered by group or person. If the link ever gets shared too widely, regenerate it in Settings: the old link stops working.
Doing this in Kanbei
Open Connectors from the sidebar, pick the service, and follow its steps — each one tells you exactly what to paste and where to find it. Your keys are encrypted on Kanbei’s server. Start with email: it unlocks event reminders, announcement emails, and the automatic messages. It costs $20 a month, plus applicable taxes, for the whole organization, with unlimited members.
