Dues is a record of money, not a way to take it. It tracks who owes what, what is outstanding, and what has been collected. Kanbei does not collect dues — members pay however your group already takes payment, and you mark it paid here.
Record what someone owes
Open Dues from the sidebar and add a due for a person: what it is for, how much, and when it is due. The page totals what is outstanding, what has been collected, and how many dues are still open, so the state of the money is one glance.
Mark it paid when the money arrives
When someone pays — cash, bank transfer, whatever your group uses — mark their due paid. That is the whole workflow: the record follows the money, it does not move it.
Marking a due paid takes the amount and the date: the amount defaults to what was owed, so change it when the amount paid differs, and the date defaults to today. You can also record how it was paid — cash, bank transfer, Venmo, GCash, or other — so the record says how the money arrived, not just that it did. Marking it unpaid again clears all three.
Bring dues in from a spreadsheet
If the dues already live in a spreadsheet, use “Import dues (CSV)” on the Dues page. The file needs a Person column (matching someone in People, or Unassigned) and a Label column; Amount, Due date, Paid, Paid date, and Paid via are optional. You review every row first — bad rows are flagged, duplicates are skipped — and only the ready rows are imported. The download on the same page uses the same columns, so an exported file imports straight back.
Who sees dues
Dues are visible to owners, admins, and people with the right custom role — a treasurer, for example. A plain member sees only their own dues, on their own page.
Doing this in Kanbei
Open Dues (turn it on in Settings → Tools if it is not on your sidebar), record what is owed, and mark dues paid as money arrives. It costs $20 a month, plus applicable taxes, for the whole organization, with unlimited members.
