Groups are how your organization actually meets: squads, classes, teams, circles. Most events, attendance registers, and announcements belong to one group, so set the groups up first and everything else has somewhere to attach.
Create a group
Open Groups from the sidebar and make a new one with a name, a short description, and a colour. The names are yours — Kanbei calls them groups by default, but your org can call them teams, classes, or circles instead, in Settings → Organization.
Give each group a leader
Pick a leader from your people list. A leader who has a Kanbei account gets the Leader role, so they can run their own group; a leader shown without an account is listed by name and can manage the group once they sign up with the email on their record. On the Groups page, a leader sees only the groups they lead. They can still open the rest of the workspace.
Add people to the group
Add members from your people list. One person can belong to several groups — a volunteer can be in the welcome team and the setup crew at the same time.
Use the group everywhere else
- Link an event to its group, so the register and the replies belong to the right people.
- Take attendance per group event, and compare groups in Reports.
- Send an announcement to one group instead of the whole org.
Doing this in Kanbei
Open Groups, create each group your org actually meets in, name a leader, and add its people. Groups you set up during org creation come from your starting template — rename or add to them here. It costs $20 a month, plus applicable taxes, for the whole organization, with unlimited members.
