How to check people in with the kiosk

By Daniel Jimenez, founder of Kanbei · November 3, 2026 · 2 min read

A Kanbei guide — step by step, for organizers.

The kiosk is a shared device at the door: pick the event, tap names as people arrive, and save once. It records the same attendance the Attendance page shows, so the register and the door list never drift apart.

Check people in at the door

Open Kiosk from the sidebar and pick the event. Search for a name or scroll the list, tap to tick them in, and press Save when the rush is over — one save for the whole event. The page shows how many are present out of the whole list, and whether anything is still unsaved.

Print name labels

After checking people in, print labels — one label per checked-in person, including check-ins you have not saved yet. The labels come from the same list as the register, so they always match.

Let people check themselves in

The second tab on the Kiosk page is the self check-in QR code. Print it or show it on a screen: people scan it with their phone, type who they are, and check in. First-timers check in as a guest. No account, no app — just the code and a name.

Doing this in Kanbei

Open Kiosk, pick the event, and tap names in — or show the QR code and let people check themselves in. Kiosk is an optional tool: turn it on in Settings → Tools if it is not on your sidebar. It costs $20 a month, plus applicable taxes, for the whole organization, with unlimited members.

Common questions

Is kiosk check-in the same as attendance?

Yes. The kiosk saves the same attendance record the Attendance page shows.

Can people check in without an account?

Yes, with the QR code. They scan it, type who they are, and check in. First-timers check in as a guest.

How do I print name labels?

Check people in on the Kiosk page, then press “Print labels”. You get one label per checked-in person.
