Settings is where the organization itself is run from. The page has sections you can jump between: Appearance, Organization, Tools, Notifications, Connectors, Calendar feed, Notification history, Members and roles, Custom roles, Member page, Announcement comments, Automatic messages, Security, Account, and Export — plus the danger zone. Most of it needs an owner or admin.
Appearance, Organization, Tools
Appearance holds the light/dark choice: System, Light, or Dark, saved on the device. Organization holds the org’s name, its timezone, its logo, and the words Kanbei uses — what you call groups and members. Tools holds the on/off switches for Dues, Kiosk, Jobs, Files, Forms, Care, Rooms, Club, and the Public page. Turning a tool off never deletes its data.
The sidebar editor
The pencil next to the sidebar opens the sidebar editor. Rename, reorder, or hide sidebar items for everyone in the org — drag them, or use the up and down buttons. Renaming changes the sidebar label only. Tools turned off under Tools are not listed here, and you can reset the sidebar to the default order, labels, and visibility.
Members, roles, and custom roles
Add a member by email and pick their role: owner, admin, leader, or member. Only an owner can grant the owner role, and the org always needs at least one owner. For helpers who need one extra area — a treasurer who needs Dues, for example — give them a custom role that opens that area, in addition to Dashboard, Calendar, Announcements, and their own page, which every member sees. Connectors, Billing, and Settings stay owner/admin only.
Automatic messages and announcement comments
Further down Settings are “Automatic messages” — welcome, birthday, and membership renewal emails that send themselves through your email account in Connectors, once you switch them on — and “Announcement comments”, which turns the comment thread on or off for the whole org. Automatic messages need an email account connected in Connectors before anything goes out; comments are threads inside Kanbei and need no email account.
Security, export, and the danger zone
Security holds sign-in protection, including multi-factor authentication and one-time backup codes. “Export your data” downloads a full copy of the org. The danger zone deletes the org, and a separate section deletes your account — both ask you to confirm first.
Doing this in Kanbei
Open Settings from the sidebar and jump to the section you need. Change one thing at a time, and check the sidebar afterwards — that is where most Settings changes show up first. It costs $20 a month, plus applicable taxes, for the whole organization, with unlimited members.
